Now available nation-wide in doctors’ offices, LidoSite® (Lidocaine HCl/Epinephrine Topical Iontophoretic Patch) 10%/0.1% — Vyteris’ revolutionary active patch — provides fast, effective analgesia prior to blood draws, venipunctures, and other superficial dermatological procedures.1,2 A quick, noninvasive ten-minute application delivers lidocaine, a trusted anesthetic, deep into the skin, significantly reducing the pain of needles.1,2

Many Americans will now take heart that needle pain can be a thing of the past. In fact, according to a recent survey, up to 40 million Americans associate high levels of pain with needles.3 This fear can turn routine doctor visits and testing procedures into stressful experiences, and can lead to the avoidance of blood draws and other medical procedures.3 In this video, Dr. Mark Dursztman, MD, Attending Physician at the New York Presbyterian Hospital, explains how the avoidance of blood draws is a serious concern that can prevent proper patient care. Small wonder, then, that of the more than 11,000 patients surveyed, 66% of adults said they would be interested in using LidoSite — and 72% would be interested in using it for their children.3
Lidosite has been available in hospitals since 2005, the reaction to LidoSite has been outstanding. Opinion leaders in pain management quickly recognized its potential in the clinical setting. Dr. William T. Zempsky, MD, Associate Director of the Pain Relief Program at Connecticut Children's Medical Center, discusses the clinical advantages of LidoSite in this short video.
Nurses, who have first-hand interaction with patients, have also become strong advocates for LidoSite. In this video Amy Perkins, RN, from North Colorado Medical Center, shares her experience with LidoSite and its impact on patient care. Nurses also appreciate how LidoSite is extremely easy to administer.
LidoSite is currently marketed to hospitals by B. Braun Medical, Inc., a leading healthcare products and services company and worldwide leader in regional anesthesia, and to doctors’ offices by Vyteris, Inc., in partnership with LabCorp, Inc., one the nation’s leading clinical laboratories.

The LidoSite system is indicated for use on patients 5 years of age and older.
The LidoSite system is contraindicated in patients with a known history of hypersensitivity to local anesthetics of the amide type, sulfites, or to any other component of the product. Iontophoresis with the LidoSite patch may cause local, transient skin irritation such as blanching or erythema in the dermis under the patch. Patients over 65 years of age may have greater sensitivity to the LidoSite patch than younger patients.
The potential exists for a small child to suffer serious adverse effects from chewing or ingesting a new or used LidoSite patch. Children should be closely observed when treated with the LidoSite system, and LidoSite patches should be stored and disposed of in the proper manner.
